The Ashrafi Mahal is a single storeyed structure. There is a rectangular courtyard which is surrounded by cells. The building was used as a madrasa and the different cells were used as classrooms. The building has a rectangular tower on each corner, now only traces of the first storey are seen. The mausoleum of Mahmud Khilji is also housed in this building, although now only ruins of it survive. Traces of marble are still seen and indicate to the fact that the walls were dressed in marble. In the center of the building, ruins of a tower can be seen. The tower which has not survived was based on the Vijay Stambh or the Tower of Victory in Chittorgarh.

Hoshang Shah’s successor was the son of one of his Afghan Ministers; Mahmud Khan who battled constantly with is neighbours most notable Rana Kumbha of Chittorgarh which was won with some irony as Rana Kumbha built his Vijay Stumbh to celebrate his victory over Malwa while Mahmud Shah built a seven storey tower to celebrate his victory.
