The Jami Masjid of Mandu is a historic mosque that was built by Hoshang Shah and was completed in 1454 during the reign of Mahmud Khilji.
Architecture & Philosophy: Mughal style of architecture where the design (from the inscriptions) is said to has been inspired from Mosque of Damascus or the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus (the present capital of Syria). The mosque is believed as one of the oldest mosques in the world and even some Muslims considering it as the fourth holiest place in Islam. The entire area of the mosque is 950 sq. feet’s , built on an raised platform 4.6 meters where entrance hall bears traces of exquisitely coloured borders and panels in glazed tiles.
