The elegant simplicity of the arches and pillars is highlighted in this view. The minimal decoration, in the form of the motif on the parapet, stands out against the otherwise plain surfaces.

When the beauty of the past is embodied in a structure still standing the test of time at present, it is possible to have discovered a treasure that transcends the boundaries of time and space. As the pillars, they blend into the arch to form a seamlessly divine juxtaposition, bears witness to the strength the structure represents.

The magnificent fortress of Mandu is an amalgamation of the iconic Islamic style of Persia with elements of the prevalent Indian architecture of that time. It has perhaps to do with the fact that the designers and the craftsmen who executed these buildings fused their own aesthetics and engineering into what was asked of them from their patrons. The buildings have the classic elements of the Sultanate architecture with multiple arches that are supported by perfectly aligned pillars, domes, water tanks as well as other elements – all fused in perfect geometry.

The uniqueness of its striking solidity comes from a combination of scales and the perceptive use of decorative motifs. Such motifs are sparingly used throughout these buildings and just in the right quantities so as to strike the perfect balance between frugality and opulence.
